So what's up with me exactly?

What's the Famicom Disk System?

The Famicom disk system was an add on for the original Famicom (Japanese version of the NES) released in 1986. It sought to reduce game prices during a game chip shortage by storing games onto floppy disks, which could be taken to a kiosk in stores to rewrite games on it for about 500 yen. Several series debuted on the system, like the Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Kid Icarus, and Castlevania, as well as one of my favourite series, Famicom Detective Club. Unfortunately, due to rapidly evolving technology causing cartridges to be cheaper and hold more, as well as Nintendo's bizzare licensing policies scaring away other third party developers, the Famicom Disk System was majorly considered a flop, and never debuted in the west. Dispite this, however, the add-on still has a dedicated following both inside and outside Japan.

So why did I theme my about page around it? Well, it's one of my favourite console add ons, and a weird part of Nintendo history, and I felt like it would represent a good chunk of me.

Why Doctor Rosalia?

When I was a teen, there was a game I really liked called Trauma Team. It was part of a series called Trauma Center, and to say it had an impact on me is an understatement. Anyways, the big disease you have to cure and fight against is called Rosalia, and I really liked it so I called myself that online and it just kinda stuck.
